Find amber at Vejers Strand
- A golden experience for couples and families alike
Along the coastline of the North Sea, small treasures are hidden - and one of them is amber. At Vejers Strand you have ample opportunity to find the golden 'Nordic gold', and amber hunting has become a cosy and popular activity for both couples and families visiting the area.

Looking for amber is a tranquil and intimate way to experience nature. Take an early morning walk in the fresh sea air and scan the shoreline for golden pieces among seaweed, shells and pebbles. It requires patience and attention - but that's why it's an activity that creates intimacy and contemplation.
For couples, it's a great way to spend time together in silence or conversation while walking along the water. For families, it's an exciting treasure hunt where both children and adults can have a shared experience, and maybe even find something to take home as a souvenir.
Amber can be found all year round, but the chances are highest during the cold months and after windy weather. The best time is often early in the morning, before the beach gets busy. Bring practical footwear, maybe a small bag for your finds - and most importantly: Patience and a sense of adventure.
The Amber Festival is an annual celebration of the "gold of the sea" along the North Sea. From 26 - 28 September, Vejers Strand and the surrounding area will be buzzing with exciting activities such as guided tours, lectures and presentations on the fascinating history and biology of amber. The festival is an ideal destination for the whole family, where knowledge, nature and cosiness go hand in hand. Parking is easy - you can leave your car in the city centre or drive straight to the beach. Local restaurants add to the festivities and tempt you with creative dishes inspired by amber. An experience where nature, culture and gastronomy meet in a unique seaside atmosphere.
Amber is fossilised resin from coniferous trees that grew millions of years ago - and over time has been carried by rivers into the sea. Here, the tides and waves have moulded it into small, golden pieces that wash up on the beach, especially after strong winds and westerly winds. Amber is light, warm to the touch and can be found in many colours - from light honey yellow to dark brown.
When you stay in one of our Beach Cabins, you're just a few minutes' walk from the beach - the perfect starting point for a spontaneous amber hunt at sunrise or after a day with westerly winds. After the hunt, you can return to the cabin and enjoy a hot cup of coffee on the terrace or take a trip to the wellness centre.
Whether you're travelling with a caravan, motorhome or van, Vejers Strand Camping is the perfect starting point for your amber hunt by the North Sea. Here you'll stay close to the beach and in the heart of West Jutland's nature - with peace, fresh air and experiences right on your doorstep.
Book your place here and look forward to nature, intimacy and maybe a piece of amber in your pocket.
